On this the fourth Anniversary (November 21st) of the sad death of Dean Jeremy Winston ‘The St Mary’s Winston Appeal Trustees” have released image of the work to install a Window in his Memory.
The images are full size pencil drawings of the tracery sections depicting events leading to Christmas, designed by the window’s creator Helen Whittaker. Further images of the ‘tree’ itself will be released soon.
The work by Coe stone on the masonry around the window frame, to prepare for the window’s installation next year has now been completed.
Fr Jeremy Winston was Vicar of Abergavenny for 18 years before being appointed Dean of the Cathedral in Newport. He sadly died months after being installed as Dean.
The Appeal Chair, Canon Mark Soady said “While work is now under way on the window we still have a small but significant short fall in the funding. If you would like to contribute to this Memorial it is not to late”.
The Lord Rowe-Beddoe, Appeal President added, “It is a great delight to see the progress of the design in the window and also to have received approval from all the relevant ecclesiastical authorities for this wonderful memorial. I am confident that with your continuing help we shall close the funding gap referred to by Fr Mark”.
To send your donations please make cheques payable to “The St Mary’s Winston Appeal” and send it to St Mary’s Priory, Monk Street, Abergavenny NP7 5ND.
