St Mary’s Priory Church Choir were the Choir-in-residence at Coventry Cathedral from August 7th -11th. Singing Evensong on Wednesday – Saturday Evening and all Sunday’s services.
Choir Director Tim Pratt reflected, “It’s an interesting place to sing, with plenty of echo, providing you’re prepared to wait about five seconds for the sound to find a wall and bounce back. In reality it’s a bit like singing into a sponge, and it’s very hard to hear what you’re doing. As with most places we visit, it took a good forty-five minute to “tune into” the building.”
It was not all work there was plenty of down time , even though the hour long que meant a visit to Warwick Castle had to be canceled. Saturday saw a great time had by all at the Coventry Motor Museum- and then there was crazy golf.
To help the choristers find their way around helpfully a line of 1p coins was laid in the floor to mark the processional way.
