When my wife Karla, the three children and I went to see Father Jeremy last Saturday, we took him a card (and some chocolates, which he promptly handed out to our all-too- eager children).
For the card, I had chosen a short poem by John Bradburne (an adventurer, Catholic poet, pilgrim and Franciscan Tertiary of the mid-20th century), which I hope he would not mind me sharing with you today: it appears to me the call and challenge of this time for us all. Here it is:
Give me the grace, Great King, to see
In face of all things Only Thee.
(John Bradburne, Ad Completorium, 1974, 02, 14)
